The community Kiln is a live construction project undertaken in the summer of 2018 with the master students in architecture, during which we collaborated with the ceramic department and the social enterprise Global Generation to design and build a structure for an outdoor kiln. The design process involved processing clay from the site and firing bricks, creating a floor pattern and building a structure out of recycled materials. Located in the heart of Kings cross area, the “skip garden” is an initiative to activate green spaces (parks) and sensitise to the importance of biodiversity. Since 2009, the skip garden has operated through meanwhile use and moved three times in the area.
